Amici Dance Theatre Company
AMICI DANCE THEATRE COMPANY IS A UNIQUE DANCE THEATRE COMPANY INTEGRATING DISABLED AND NON-DISABLED ARTISTS AND PERFORMERS, THEIR PRODUCTIONS AND WORKSHOPS HAVE HAD A MAJOR IMPACT WORLD-WIDE CHALLENGING CONVENTIONAL ATTITUDES ABOUT DISABILITY AND THE ARTS.

Founded by Wolfgang Stange, in 1980, they have now produced over twenty full company shows and many repertoire pieces choreographed by Wolfgang Stange and the Amici members. Wolfgang is known internationally for his teaching methods which stress the need to share and acknowledge each other's abilities, whether disabled or not.
Amici runs regular improvisation and creative dance classes for its 40+ members at The Lyric Theatre Hammersmith, where they are the community artists in residence. Recently they launched Young Amici, integrated dance classes for young people.
Biannually they produce a full company show performed in the Lyric's main theatre. Each term Amici hold an "open workshop", these are an opportunity for anyone to join Amici members in a workshop run by Wolfgang Stange and to experience the Amici "magic". Amici regularly run integrated workshops with their unique style in the UK and around the world.
Amici have produced a Resource Pack and DVD, called The Magic of Amici, targeted mainly at Arts Practitioners as a guide to running workshops "the Amici way", and for people who would like to learn more about the company and their working practices.
