INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF THEATRE-MAKERS.
THEATRE BOX IS A CREATIVE EDUCATION PROJECT THAT INTRODUCES YOUNG PEOPLE TO THE MANY CREATIVE AND TECHNICAL ROLES INVOLVED IN MAKING THEATRE.
Through hands-on workshops and practical activities, participants explore areas such as set design, costume, lighting, sound, stage management and producing, gaining insight into the collaborative process behind every production.
Working with professional theatre-makers, participants create their own miniature theatre box, providing a practical and engaging way to discover how different creative and technical elements come together to tell a story. Through experimentation, problem-solving and teamwork, they develop a greater understanding of the skills involved in creating live performance and the many career pathways available within the arts.
"IT GAVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN ABOUT STAGE DESIGN, LIGHTING, SOUND, ACTING, DIRECTING AND PRODUCING AND I REALLY ENJOYED THE EXPERIENCE" - A Participant
Designed to support the Key Stage 3 curriculum, Theatre Box provides teachers with a practical and engaging resource for exploring theatre-making in the classroom. Schools taking part in the project retain their Theatre Box, together with a RESOURCE PACK, EDUCTIONAL MATERIALS and play texts, enabling students and teachers to continue exploring theatre long after the workshops have finished.
Created by Tina and Kit Bicat, Theatre Box is produced by Turtle Key Arts and funded by the John Lyon's Charity.
